Directions to your next check-in: Start/End the Purple Route here (or connect to the Orange Route and keep going).
Take Scotts Crossing towards the Wegmans. Cross to the opposite side of Scotts Crossing at the intersection with Wegmans.
Continue up the hill and over down to Jones Branch Dr where you will make a right. (As you use Scotts Crossing to go over the Beltway, be mindful of the HOV on/off ramps, especially if it is during rush hour. There is a bike lane on this bridge but at one point, it is in-between two traffic lanes so we recommend just using the sidewalk.)
Once you turn right onto Jones Branch Dr, your next check in will be just up the street a bit at the entrance to Valo Park.
This is the entrance to Valo Park. It is a “POPS” – Privately Owned Public Space which is what happens when a municipality requires a developer to create and maintain an outdoor space for the public even when it is on their privately owned land. If you turn right onto the property and follow the path, you will take a brief but lovely loop around this man-made pond. Yes, you are allowed to be here! If you are on your bike, be careful as the path is narrow and there are frequently people walking along it.
Directions to your next check-in: Continue along Jones Branch Dr until you get to your next check in at Jones Branch and Lincoln Way. While you can ride on the sidewalk, there is a nice bike lane along this stretch.
Directions to your next check-in: Once you check in here, continue a little further to the slightly funky intersection of Jones Branch and International Dr, which both turn into Spring Hill Rd. Stay straight onto Spring Hill Rd, NOT towards the Dulles Toll Rd.
Your next Check in with be at the edge of the parking lot, just past the Public Storage Buildings.
Did you know there is a theater tucked away in this strip mall? 1st Stage Theater is an award-winning regional theatre and performing arts center showcasing local professional theater productions.
Directions to your next check-in: Stay straight on Spring Hill until you see the metro station on the corner. Turn into the Kiss and Ride lot and find the Tysons Wayfinding Sign at the base of the escalator for your final check -in along the Purple Route.
Check out our brand new Tysons Wayfinding Kiosk. We installed one at each metro entrance in Tysons. Take a look at the map and the nearby destinations and see what else you can discover throughout Tysons.
Directions: This is the final check in for the Purple Route. Want to keep going? Continue onto the Orange Route for a longer bike ride that will bring you back to McLean Station or walk the Yellow Route back to the Tysons Station and the mall.
